Archaeological trial trenching will begin at the Quanterness Community Wind Farm site this week. This follows geophysical survey work carried out earlier this year.
The works will be undertaken by a small team of local archaeologists and contractors which will involve machine excavating approximately 60 trenches across the site. The trench locations are designed to investigate all geophysical anomalies identified in the earlier survey.
This is an important part of the development process, helping us identify and protect any archaeological features before construction begins in 2027.
